A huge frustration when moving overseas or being deployed is not being able to shop your trusted brands and being unsure if they will ship to your new location. We’ve rounded up over 120 brands and stores that ship to APO/FPO addresses, and over 30 that don’t to help clear some things up!
Stores That Ship APO “Fast”
These brands ship by air to APO and FPO addresses using United States Postal Service (USPS). Though it will take a longer delivery time than if you were in the United States, we still call this the “fast” option. These brands most often take 1-3 weeks in transit once shipped.
A lot of times APO and FPO orders will be eligible for cool perks like sales tax exemptions and free shipping. Make sure you read on the businesses websites to verify.
Some stores use different shipping carriers for different items, so one item from your order might come by boat. We’ve donated these brands with an asterisk if we’re aware of that practice.

Stores That Ship “Slow”
These brands ship by boat to APO/FPO addresses using UPS or FedEx. Where I’m stationed we call this shipping “slow boat”. These brands most often take 6-8 weeks or longer in transit to our duty station in Okinawa, Japan.
While these stores do technically ship to APO/FPO addresses, I usually ship to my parents and have them use pirateship.com to complete a label and customs form to send me the item in a fraction of the time.
Brands with an asterisk ship both fast and slow, depending on the item.

Additional Information
Keep in mind that some items are not allowed to be shipped by air, and/or internationally. For example, you might run into this on Amazon for some consumer electronics, oversized products, or hazmat items.
Also, any box shipped to your APO/FPO cannot exceed 70 lbs.
Always make sure the name you use at checkout is the legal name attached to your APO/FPO box. If not, your order will be returned to the sender.
Wondering about a brand not on our list? As a general rule for shipping time, USPS means fast, UPS and FedEx mean slow. You can often pick a shipping carrier at checkout, or google what carrier the brand uses.
The most accurate way to assure the store you’re shopping ships APO/FPO (and in the time frame you need) is to contact their customer service. Most stores respond within 24-48 hours and you’ll have the most up to date and accurate answer.
Using A Mail Forwarding Service
For stores that don’t ship APO, you can use a mail forwarding service to get your order.
These companies give you a mailing address at their warehouse, then forward your order to your APO address once they receive it. The company I use, ShipItAPO, is located in a state without sales tax meaning that you save that money like you would when shipping APO/FPO.
I’ve found the handling fee to be fair, except in cases that the original store used an unnecessarily large box. In those cases the fee for a small item is hard to swallow. You can’t control what box the store uses, so keep that in mind!
TIPs for Shipping APO/FPO/DPO
First, make sure that you understand how to use your shipping address.
Correct Method.
John Doe
PSC 4321, Box 54321
APO AE 09345-4321
Let’s break down what each section is.
PSC stands for Postal Service Center. Your military addresses while overseas or deployed will have an assigned PSC number. You should receive this upon in-processing.
Box Number. Again, upon in-processing to the base, you should receive an APO box number. If you’re deployed, there might be a different system where mail is sorted through your assigned unit or squadron.
You’ll type in your PSC number and Box number in most instances under the “street address” section when ordering online.
APO stands for Air or Army Post Office. FPO stands for Fleet Post Office. You’ll type this out under the “city” section when ordering online.
AE, AP, or AA. AE is used for armed forces in Europe, the Middle East, Africa, and Canada; AP is for the Pacific; and AA is the Americas excluding Canada. You’ll use these abbreviations in “state” sections of your shipping address.
Zip Code. You’ll be assigned a zip code upon in-processing. This is used exactly the same as a normal shipping address.
Keep up with your confirmation email and tracking number. If your order does not arrive in the time that was advertised to you, you should contact their customer service to tell them the situation. You may get a refund or a replacement order if it’s been in transit for too long.
United States Postal Service Offers flat rate shipping boxes where if it fits it ships. These are especially useful for family members sending care packages to service members.
A lot of companies will do coupon codes for a military discount. Definitely take advantage of that if you can. ID Me is also a military service authenticator service that companies use to approve military discounts.
Shipping packages overseas for the first time can be intimidating. They’ll require customs forms to be eligible to ship. I would recommend doing them online on USPS or PirateShip‘s website to skip the line at the post office. Do not be afraid to ask for help from a post office worker if needed.
Feel free to share this guide to any friends and family that would like to put together care packages for you.

Enlisted Experience
Buying something and having it shipped from your favorite brand name companies is great and it’s definitely something that we take for granted while we are in the United States. It’s nice to order a little piece of home and have it shipped to your APO address. Especially if it arrives in like 10 business days. That’s the BEST.
There’s nothing like being stationed overseas. Don’t forget to update your dream sheet if you are wanting to land your dream assignment.
For those with APO / FPO / DPO addresses, I hope that you found this guide useful. Share it with your fellow service members so they can have their favorite companies ship to their military APO box.
